People that know Father Dan know that Jury duty bailers chap my hide. If I were ever hauled into court (which is a distinct possibility) I want people in the jury to be at an education level on par with or above mine.

Looked at another way, do you want the people making a decision about your life to be the ones that weren’t smart enough to get out of jury duty? No? Well then you have a civic responsibility to serve on a jury when your name is called.

Yes it’s a pain in the ass. Yes it interferes with your life. Yes you might loose a few workdays. But imagine it was YOU on trial.

What’s that? You don’t screw around so you will never go to trial for anything? Righhhhht. I bet just about every defendant thinks that at one point in time.

Say again? If you are in court you must be guilty? You my pin-headed friend are exactly the reason I am writing this. You are the reason there needs to be quality citizens in the jury box.

A jury of your PEERS. “a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status.”
