  1. Loved the "Dear Red States" (frankly, I've read it before somewhere or something quite like it – during the disastrous Bush era) . I have a blog (which nobody reads) on politics and religion (mostly Ann Coultergiest-bashing and Christofascist alerts).

I try, try, try to keep up with everything, but frankly, it's gotten impossible. I have rss feeds from AP, CBS, Reuters, Southern Poverty Law Center, Andrew Sullivan, ThinkProgress.com, Washington Independent, ChristiaNet (I have to know what the other side thinks, their squabbling about dogma is both scary and ridiculous) and Dan Savage So every morning I am almost up-to-date and thoroughly exhausted by 11AM. I submit my more "worthy" blog articles to OpEd News, so I have to be absolutely current with the exception of a few articles about how I REALLY feel about things (always lowers the number of readers). Five days ago I wrote a post about Fred Phelps and his daughter going to England to protest a production of "Laramie Project." I even wrote a special apology to Queen Elizabeth telling her she should send them back immediately or at least let us usher them back to Guantanamo. The very next day it was posted that the Phelpses were barred from entering England!

The blogosphere is a very interesting place!

    Again, I enjoy your blog

  2. Wow you couldn't be more accurate about so many things in one short story. It was like listening to Pink Floyd The Wall for the first time so much good music to absorb that you know you will listen to it indefinitely. I am going to post this article in my web site forum. Thank you so much father Dan for your impeccable insight into why most of us are proud to be Bay Area people.

  3. Great piece. And not a bad idea about the new nation… sadly I would be stuck in the old union as I live in Tennessee. Make no mistake: this is a beautiful state with many great people and I love my home here.

But I could do without the brain dead politics of many of the native folk. It's beyond bizarre how so many middle class and lower income families can be hoodwinked into supporting agendas that are clearly to their disinterest simply because they feel jesus would want them to.

Just so you know there are MANY open-minded and progressive people here in the "bible belt". Sadly the media and political engine in this region is controlled by the republican-christian-nazi regime and the illusion of broad support for the neocon agenda persists.
