How many times have we heard the story of a tortilla chip or puddle of oil in which Jesus decides to manifest himself to the delight of thousands of worshippers? Ananova is reporting that hundreds of people have flocked to a church in India to witness a painting of Jesus “weeping tears of blood”. The picture belongs to a 14-year-old girl from the village of Ambora-Camurlim in South Goa who first saw it weeping in her bedroom cupboard.

Her family alerted the parish priest who transferred the portrait to the village church. Since then locals have queued up at the church to take a look at the portrait. Church spokesman Father Olavo Pereira told the Deccan Chronicle: “The church cannot simply exploit the situation [cough, cough], we have to be careful and verify it before we take a decision. [ wink, wink] Visions are generally subjective and need more careful examination. [snicker, cough] The world-famous pilgrimage sites of Fatima and Lourdes in France, where similar visions appeared, took years before being officially recognised.”

While Father Pereira talks to the media about the importance of not prematurely alerting the media, Allah trumped Jesus and upped the corporeal ante - an Indian woman cut open an aubergine to find seeds spelling out the word Allah BAM! Take that christianity!

Visitors are now flocking to see the aubergine (An aubergine is an eggplant by the way) at a house in Mendhasal village, near Bhubaneswar. Oriya language daily, Sambad, reports the aubergine was bought from the local market. Muhammad Khalil’s wife sliced open the vegetable. She noticed the seeds read ‘Allah’ in Urdu script. She informed the Imam who ordered the vegetable to be kept in a mosque for offering prayers. Hundreds of Muslims are converging on the mosque to see the vegetable.

Ok Jesus - the balls in your court, whatcha got? [Comment on this Post]
