I got the following email today and really, really wonder if these people understand what the hell they are talking about:
Protect the Pledge of Allegiance!
For 226 years America and her flag have stood for Independence, Liberty, Freedom and Justice. Fellow Americans, let us join as one in our stand against terrorism and tyranny.
Holy Crap! Terrorists are attacking America and her flag? Count me in!
Imagine the uplifting effect of four million patriots proudly declaring, “I Pledge Allegiance to the United States of America.” Take one minute of your time and add your name to the Pledge of Allegiance. Help inspire confidence and strengthen our collective resolve.
Well, did my part by serving nine years in the military and am currently actively involved in a veteran’s group - but If I can help inspire confidence and strength in our colective resolve against terrorists then I will answer that call.
Take the action of a patriot. NOW.
OK!
God bless America.
Huh? Ok, you’re a little gung-ho but, terrorist attack and all, what should I do!
On June 25th, 2002, the 9th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional and cannot be recited in public schools because it contains the words “under God.” This unbelievable and absurd ruling is yet another salvo from activist judges more interested in making their own law rather than following the Constitution.
WTF are you talking about? Activist judges making their own law rather than following the Constitution? For reviewing the constitutional separation of church and state? I don’t get it? In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, ‘under God,’ to the Pledge. Allow me to quote President Eisenhower “From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our Nation and our people to the Almighty.”
After months of anxious waiting, the Supreme Court has announced it will hear the case against the Pledge of Allegiance. The Christian Family Coalition is calling on ALL who support the phrase “One nation under God” should remain in the Pledge to take immediate action by signing our “Protect the Pledge Petition”.
Well to be honest, that sounds like religious activism - not a following of the Constitution.
We, as Americans, stand with members of the United States Congress in asking the Supreme Court of the United States to affirm the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance with the phrase “under God’ included.
“We” being all good Christians? If you doubt that the phrase “under God” is religious, then try substituting ‘under Buddha’ or ‘under Allah,’ or ‘under Krishna,’ and repeat the Pledge.
We support the Pledge of Allegiance, including the phrase, “One nation under God.” We believe that the action taken by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in declaring our Pledge UNCONSTITUTIONAL, is a direct violation of our Constitutional freedom.
Fortunately, it doesn’t matter what “you” believe - that’s why we have the Constitution and the courts - to interpret and uphold the law. They protect the minority from the majority and the rights of the small from the agenda of the masses. Christian Family Coalition Members and Staff: Please do not hold strong opinions about things you obviously don’t understand.
Here’s my pledge:

Think about it.
