If you get a new Dell computer - and god only knows why you would - upon booting it for the first time you are presented with “Press any key on the keyboard to indicate that you have read all of the software licenses and agree to their terms.” However, an article entitled Dell’s Software License Policy: Dude, you’re getting screwed. documents how: “Dell corporate policy is that users need to lie to use their new laptops, and to agree to legal agreements that it’s completely impossible to have read. This is the next level above ‘click-through’ licenses. Now, they figure no one reads the EULAs anyway, so why bother even providing a copy? ”
This is a very short and well written example of how End User License Agreements (EULA) are rarely read by the consumer or the manufacturer - and now that someone actually took the time to read it, it turns out they can’t even agree to them if they want to.
