For the next round of “Gimme Some Money” comes the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust Litigation Settlement. Go to the website, fill in the form and wait by the mailbox. The cash paid by the Distributor Defendants (after the payment of attorneys’ fees, litigation and Settlement administration costs) will be distributed to Settlement Group members who file claims for an award. You are a member of the Settlement Group if:
You are a person (or business) in the United States, its Territories, or Possessions, AND
You purchased prerecorded Music Products from one or more retailers, AND
At least one Music Product was purchased by you between January 1, 1995 and December 22, 2000
The amount you will be paid will be based on the total number of claims filed, up to a maximum of $20.00 per claimant. Each claimant will be paid the same amount, regardless of the number of Music Products he/she purchased. Note: If the number of claims filed would result in awards of less than $5.00 per claimant, there will be no cash distribution to individual consumers. Rather, the cash portion of the Settlement shall be distributed to not-for-profit, charitable, governmental or public entities in each state, territory and possession, to be used for music-related purposes or programs.
And Yes, minors are entitled to file claims. [Comment on this Post]
