At least 251 people were killed in a stampede during a stone-throwing ritual at the annual Muslim hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in early February. Last year, 14 pilgrims were trampled during the stoning and 35 were killed in 2001. The deadliest hajj-related incident was a 1990 stampede in which 1,426 people were killed.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Minister Iyad Madani. “All precautions were taken to prevent such an incident, but this is God’s will.” he said. “Praise be to God, if you die on the haj you are considered a martyr,” said Egyptian Elhamy Osman. Well Elhamy, there’s always next year. Fingers crossed my brother. Who am I to question the will of God. [What Do YOU Think? Comment on this Post!] [Testify!]
