I keep an old B.C. comic on my laptop. In it, one of the characters proclaims he has a truth about truth. The others ask him what it is to which he replies that truth has been replaced by consensus. The others think about this for a second and a refute his observation with “We’ll I Think You’re Wrong”, “So Do I”, and “Well That Settles It.”

The Art of Controversy by Arthur Schopenhauer offers an alternative to having to actually think and use logic in an argument: discard “objective truth”, employ flexible moral judgement. Definately worth your time to read through the various positions.
